Jingyu Lin (affectionately known as ‘Jean’) is originally from the Chicago suburbs. She became interested in Photography in high school and spent her teenage years shooting projects with her friends. Her passion led her to continue exploring the world of photography at university while she simultaneously studied for a public health degree. Upon graduating, she made her decision and moved to NYC to pursue a career as a Photographer.
Jingyu utilizes a dreamy, romantic color palette that is reflected in the intimate film images she captures of her editorial subjects. Her work shows her love of both portraiture and fashion photography as she strives to allow her subjects to play different characters while also capturing their true essence. As the daughter of Chinese parents who emigrated to the states, she is passionate about sharing the stories of underrepresented communities both within and outside the industry. This storytelling comes through in her distinctive work and has earned her an impressive list of clients within the relatively short period of time that she has been in NYC.
